Rokeya Padak took 5 women including Rokeya Padak



Rokeya Padak has been given to five Maharesses for special contribution to the women's awakening. Roka Chowdhury (posthumous), former State Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Jinnatunissa Talukder, Johora Rich, Shila Roy, Rokeya Begum (posthumously), who got Rokeya Padak in the war of liberation.

On Sunday, Begum Rokeya Day celebrated at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center and the award recipients of the Rokeya Padak-2014, the awardees received a medal from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

On behalf of Rama Chowdhury, his son Jaharlal Chakraborty, on behalf of Rokeya Begum, her daughter Sharmin Jahan, Gauri Rani Bhattacharya received the award on behalf of Shila Rai. The other two were present themselves.

Rama Chowdhury was born in 1941 in Popadia village under Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong. In 1961, he obtained a master's degree in Bengali language and literature from Dhaka University. Rama Chowdhury is the first female postgraduate (MA) in South Chittagong. In 1962, he started his career as a Chief Education Officer of Cox's Bazar Girls' High School, and for 16 years, he was the head teacher of various high schools.

During the Liberation War in 1971, Mother of three sons, Rama Chowdhury, was ancestral Vita Popadia. At that time her husband went to India. On May 13, Pakistani soldiers came to his house. Professor Johra Rich was born on 15 October 1947 in Brahmanbaria. Anti-exploitation student politics has been associated since the 60's. Besides continuing her career in Comilla Women's College, she continued her strenuous efforts to secure women's education employment and rights. Supporting the poorer meritorious students by establishing Fatema Ferdous Foundation in the name of mother. Two of them currently working as BSS education cadres.
